After many years of shooting with a Canon 40D, upgrade time has arrived. With the Canon 5D Mark II, it’s all in the details — and the awesome video capability which I have not even touched yet.

The U.S. military mission in Iraq continues to wind down, and is scheduled to completely do so at the end of the year unless the Government of Iraq asks for U.S. troops to stay and the United States agrees. As the sun sets on the larger mission, check out some sunsets in Iraq over recent years.
As usual, the D.C. fireworks don’t disappoint. Since last year was so favorable along the Potomac I gave it another go.

We got on our first active tornado warned storm of the trip, and it produced a tornado. Poor visibility and lack of light kept us from seeing it, but it was likely very close.
We traveled about 7 hours for our first storms since the ride out here, and we lucked out by finding the only one to get severe warned in the region.
More Plains sunshine sent us to Wakita to check out where Twister was filmed.
We’re in Great Bend, Kansas this morning, still waiting out the break in action. More on that later…
