The 80-degree low is not very common at all, unless you’ve been around D.C. lately at least. While it may still be a bit of an anomaly, it’s becoming less so year by year it seems.
While the Washington, D.C. to Baltimore, Md. area averages about one 100-degree day each year, they are not super common and stretches of years without them are (or, someday, where?) to be expected.
A chart of 90F+ days as an average by month, compared over 30-year cycles throughout the historical period.
