The U.S. military mission in Iraq continues to wind down, and is scheduled to completely do so at the end of the year unless the Government of Iraq asks for U.S. troops to stay and the United States agrees. As the sun sets on the larger mission, check out some sunsets in Iraq over recent years.
President Obama gave a quick speech on the upcoming drawdown of troops in Afghanistan. 10,000 are expected to return home this year, with the rest of the 33,000 “surge” troops to follow by September 2012.
